After breakfast the next morning (Saturday), I sent an email to the company that I purchased the system from and called and left a voicemail. The company I purchased the system has been super about answering questions and helping me get the solar system installed and working.
I was still disappointed but settled in for a couple of days. Then it dawned on me that Monday is Memorial Day, and the company would be closed on Monday. I could still get it resolved on Tuesday morning and be out by checkout time if it was a simple solution.
A friend in PA who helped me install the system, asked how things were going. I explained the situation and asked him to go online and research the problem for me. He told me that the power to the inverter had to be turned off for several minutes and then turned back on. I turned the battery switch off, shore power was already disconnected and then knew that the solar charger had to be tuned off too because it feeds directly to the DC bus bar that feeds the inverter.
The only way to turn the solar charger off is via the app. After waiting a few minutes, I turned the battery switch on and then manually turned the inverter switch to “on”. Lights lit up on the inverter. I had power. I plugged shore power cable into the pedestal and the SC passed through. It’s working.
A sigh of relief and a prayer of thanksgiving for good friends and a solution.
I went to mass Saturday evening at St Joseph Parish in Smithers BC. A beautiful church with snow-capped mountains in the background. When I came out of mass I heard a raven call. The raven was on the cross at the top of the church. It has been a long time since I heard a raven, and I was excited to hear it. It brought back memories of being in the Cascade Mountains and hearing the ravens fly overhead, calling to one another.
