After morning prayers and breakfast, I hooked StarLink up to upload several posts to the blog. I kept hearing a noise by the door, so I checked, and a squirrel was trying to get into the fifth wheel. I spent over $2500 repairing wiring in the truck after we moved into the house in PA about six years ago caused by squirrels. I chased it away, but it came back so I chased it away again.
After uploading the posts, I started preparing the fifth wheel to travel. First, I worked on the bent scissor jack. I was able to get the metal on the base bent straighter so it would close easier.
I headed down the road stopping in Girdwood to get propane, dump the waste tanks and get fresh water. The fitting on the freshwater hose was female so I couldn’t get fresh water. The person working the propane said that most people have the fitting. I called the hardware store in Seward, and they had the fittings. I had them reserve two of them at the counter and I drove to Seward to get the fitting and fresh water.
I went next door and ordered fish and chips for carryout and headed to the waterfront to eat. The wind was severe and made it cold. I had a jacket on, and the wind went right through the material. I ate the fish and chips in the truck and put the trash in the dumpster, then sat and watched the waves crash out on the water and along the shore. Boats were coming and going around the bay and the sun poked through the clouds here and there. What a wonderful sight.
After filling the freshwater tank, I headed north and found a beautiful place to spend the night. I spent some time outside enjoying the beauty of the mountains, snow and the purple lupine flowers growing everywhere. When I came back inside, the fridge was off, and the check light was on. I tried to restart the fridge numerous times, but it wouldn’t restart. A problem for tomorrow.
