Back to Anchorage for the Refrigerator

I got up and after morning prayers and breakfast, I started calling companies in Seward and Anchorage to find someone to work on the fridge.  No one in Seward worked on them.  I made several calls to Anchorage and left voicemails with several of the companies.

Finally, I headed into Anchorage to see if I could find someone to work on the fridge because that was best possible location to get help.  Most of the companies said that they were booked out three to four months.  One even said that they could not look at it for at least eight months.

A couple of the companies would not work on it because the fifth wheel is so old.  One company said that their insurance company won’t let then work on propane systems on trailers that are over 25 years old.  I was getting nowhere.  They gave me the names of two people who work on older trailers and said that they could order a new one if one those companies could install it.  I was really discouraged.

Even with all the issues it is a great day.  The sun is shining and the mountains are out.  It is gorgeous.  We live in an earth that God gave us to enjoy and take care of by our stewardship.  It seems that we do a really poor job when it comes to taking care of mother earth.

I gave up and headed south.  I stopped at Bird Creek and put a lot of the food in the dumpster and continued toward Seward.  A quick stop for fuel and ice for the ice chest in Girdwood and I continued towards Seward.

I found a nice pullout and planned to stop for the night.  There was a black hatchback car further down the pullout and the person went into the woods and then came back to the car.  Then they rummaged around in the back of the car, got something out of it and went back into the woods.  They came out a short time later as I was leaving.  I decided to move down the road to another spot.

I put the jacks down and opened the slide out.  Then I took the chair outside and sat down to pray a rosary.  A black car pulled in and the driver put the window down and started talking to me.  It was the same person from the previous spot that was acting so strange.  He said that he was not feeling well but felt better after a trip to woods.  He stopped to check on me to see if I was ill too.  He got out and we talked for a while.

He is lives in Nilkiski which is at the end of the road going north on the Kenai Peninsula.  He hasn’t worked for a couple of years due to a work injury.  I noticed that he walked with a limp.  I got a stool out of the back of his car, and we talked for about fifteen minutes.  He seemed to be religious because he talked about the beautiful creation that Jesus gave us here in Alaska.  I agreed.

He said that if I was ok, he was going to head home.  One never knows what to expect in life.
