I decided to stay at the pullout for another day and just take a day off. I had cell service so if one of the companies returned my call I would get it. I was closer to Anchorage so I could turn around and go back to the city if someone could work on the fridge.
I called the company who gave me the two referrals and got the owner. He said that it is crazy right now. They have three people answering the phones and they missed 177 calls yesterday. I asked about a new refrigerator, and he asked about the unit in the fifth wheel now and said that it was probably a two-thousand-dollar fridge. He said to let him know if I wanted to order it.
No one returned my calls for the repair of the fridge or installation of a new one. While I knew that I could get the fridge a good bit cheaper if I were in the lower states, I also knew that I didn’t want to live out of an ice chest all summer. I talked to a good friend in PA who is coming for a visit here in Alaska later this summer. He walked me through what it would take to replace it and it really wasn’t that hard from a lot of the other work I have done in the past.
I called back to get more information about the new fridge and left a voicemail. I decided to send an email with questions and later that evening, after hours he responded to it. We emailed for a while and continued the next day.
The sun is shining, and it is a beautiful day. I can see the tops of mountains and the clouds are slowly passing casting shadows on the mountain sides. God is good to us allowing us to live in such a beautiful place.
