Only thirty percent of visitors to Alaska get to see Denali. It is usually shrouded with clouds. It was a sunny day and I have hoped that I would get to see the mountain up close before I left. But one never knows. I prayed a silent prayer that I would see the mountain if possible. I pulled into a parking area and there was Denali big and bright as possible. Soon other cars and RVs pulled in to see the mountain. I stayed there for some time enjoying the beauty of Denali.

What a view. God gave us some of the most beautiful places to visit and see his creation that he made for us to enjoy and care for. There were more stops to view the mountains all around me, but this moment is precious. A prayer of thanks that I was able to see the mountain while I was this close. I am blessed to be able to travel and see God’s creation.
I continued south and took the spur road over to Talkeetna. I read that you should visit this quaint town if you are close. The spur road is 14 miles and dead ends in Talkeetna. I took the right turn and wound around the area parking lots that said “No RVs” until I was unable to go any further. A semi was making deliveries and had the road blocked.
I wasn’t sure that I could go around the block like the cars and pickups were since I had the fifth wheel behind me. So I sat and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally the semi backed up and I could get through. I was hoping to get a haircut because my hair was getting long and starting to bother me. It didn’t happen in Fairbanks and now in Talkeetna.
Since there was no place to park with the fifth wheel, I left town and went back to AK 3 and headed south again. Driving along I saw a sign “Haircuts $16” so I took the next exit and followed the side road up to the sign. I got a good haircut and continued down the road. I was also getting hungry for a pizza. I saw a sign for pizza, so I stopped. I got a large so I could have leftovers for a few days. The pizza was not a great pizza but tasted good.
I spent the night in the Wasilla Walmart parking lot. I got a few items and, after evening prayers, turned in for the night. The days are getting shorter because there is more than four and a half hours between the sunset and sunrise compared to just over three hours up north. With the clouds, it was actually dark so sleep came quickly.
